NAILS: HOW TO REMOVE GLITTER NAILPOLISH

Ulta3's Black Plum & Sportsgirl's All That Glitters

Removing glitter nail polishes are a biiiiiiiiiitch.
And being that glitter nail polishes are all the rage at the moment,  it has come to my attention that the removal of these nail polishes can be one of the worst things. Where the colour easily wipes off but leaves chunks and clusters of glitter behind on your nail where sometime your only solution can be to scratch and pick them off with something pointy.

TRENDY: CLAWED NAILS

Rawrrrr. Seriously feline friends, the clawed nail has seen a resurgence in the last couple of months. With artists such Gaga, Rihanna, Adele and Lana Del Ray all getting pointy - it doesn't look like its going to die away easily. So we might as well embrace the Wolverine inside us all.

IPHONEGRAPHY: WINDOW DRESSING, NEON, NAILS, BACKPACK, GOLDCOAST

Happy Saturday lovers.
Its been a crazy week for me - stressful, exciting, flattering, amped and most certainly dangerous.

1. The amazing window dressing at Louis Vuitton on Cavil Avenue. Oh heyyy Mother (in the background).
2. Finally launched my Big Cartel site in lead up to Suitcase Rummage next week - ooh I'm excited. These are neon-tastic.
3. A preppy nail look. Midnight by Revlon on the base with Sportsgirl's Red on the tips.
4. I finally got myself a backpack after countless lust sessions here and here. This one is from eBay and for $27 it aint too bad.
5. Anzac Day is also my mother's birthday. So we headed down the coast to Surfers Paradise and had a relaxing day. Ramen, Gelati, Sun & Sand. I love Queensland.
6. Black Coffee Lyrics at Surfers Paradise - was very excited to try it out after a recommendation from my coffee fanatic friend, alas it was closed. But I did enjoy this piece of graffiti on the wall of the cafe.

3. My beautiful friend Dominique and I attend Ig'Zist's 1st Birthday Party - there was a photo booth and it was fun!
4. Stacking up my D I Y bracelets (pssttt... after much cajoling, I have been convinced by friends to sell these online, so they will be coming!)

Hello hello all, Happy Sunday!

I felt like making another video for A+D, and have chosen to show you guys my nail steps and also sort of a mini tutorial on how I get my leopard print nails happening. Its so simple and you don't even need any fancy nail art brushes either.

NAILS: POISON IVY

click play (warning: not for everyone)

Oh.... Poison Ivy. One of many super villains that I adore (Catwoman!!!! too).
Now say what you will, but Uma Thurman as Poison Ivy is one of the best moments the 90s has to offer. That sickly amazing green suit, paired with the fiery hair twisted in a Gwen Stefani circa No Doubt is just so nostalgic to me.

I was tossing to see what I should paint my nails today, and recalled that I have never tried black nails. I painted one hand black.... and very swiftly realised why I had never tried it. So I decide to swap colours for my other hand, I chose the Las Palmas green, for more on this colour click here. It was easier (and made much more sense to me) to have mismatched nails then to take the black off and start all over again... ; )

.... so messy.

NAILS: CRIME BY LIME

We have been colour charting at work lately, and I have re-found (is that a word??) my favourite colour. And have found the name for it. The colour is Las Palmas and its a beautiful mix of tropical, neon and fressssssssh like the Prince. Refound because I was obsessed with lime green when I was a young child.

I had a lime green bag, couch, desk, jelly flats, journal, etc etc etc. But then, like many, grew out of my 90s psychedelic.. Pepper Ann watching childhood and appreciated more "sensible" colours.

However now I have a nail polish that matches a close shade to gorgeous Las Palmas. Hot Tropical by Sportsgirl - a cool $2.94. Ohhhh yeahhhh.

MORE LIME LOVE.

TRENDY: TAUPE SHADOW

I was reading up articles on Cushnie Et Ochs (one of my favourite labels at the moment) in Nylon & The Coveteur and stumbled across their Fall/Winter 11 lookbook. And I was drawn to the make up - a simple Taupe smokey eye.

NAILS: CHOCOLATE GLITTER

Guten Mornin.

GLITTER NAIL LAYERING - ITS SO SPRING ;)
And, I have the most delicious combo of nail colours for it. Literally looks like a chocolate you would get from Darrel Lea either during Christmas or Easter.

Its simply a combination of a warm taupe'y brown (BYS Taupe $4.99) and a glittery nail polish from a pharmacy bargain bin (I love me some pharmacy bargain bins...). The key to choosing the perfect glitter to layer on other polishes, is to choose one with a clear polish base where the glitter has been added to it;  rather than a glitter nail polish with a coloured base - cause that shizz just wont layer, I can tell you that for free.

** I love that these pictures have a real 90s MTV vibe to them hahah...

DIY TIP: If you have some glitter lying around the home (and as a pro DIY'er you probably do) just add that, very very carefully, into a pot of clear nail polish. Shake it like a polaroid picture and et voila you have your very own customised glitter polishh.

But for those who would rather not have glitter flying all over the place, Sportsgirl has an amazing set of gold and silver glitter polish for only $7.95. The glitter is nice and chunky with perfect little rounds of gold or silver. And they are really chic just painted straight on to the nail.

LETS ALL SHARE IN THE NAIL FUN.
I REALLY WANNA SEE WHAT YOU GUYS ARE WEARING ON YOUR DIGITS! JUST HEAD TO THE A+D FB PAGE AND POST A PIC OF YOUR NAILS :)

HOPE YOU GUYS ARE HAVING AN AMAZING START TO THE WEEK,
TALK SOON - XOXOXOX

NAILS: JUNGLE FEVER

click play :)

NAIL INSPIRATION BROUGHT TO YOU BY MIXING A LITTLE AUTUMN LOVE AND A LITTLE SPRING ANTICIPATION. AND SOME DIY ACTION, BUT FOR THAT SCROLL TO THE END.

Yellow and Wine/Burgundy are "the" colours of the the Fall season ahead. However us in the Southern hemisphere have Spring on the horizon; and with that comes animal print, bright colours, some colour blocking action circa 2010 even (?) So I tried to mix these to form my nail inspiration. I thought it was quite fitting as its the first day of 2011 Spring tomorrow.

I call this the perfect mix for some trans-seasonal nail wear.

DIY ELEMENT:
I know that Sally Hansen has these **weird** stick on nail things that come in a leopard print motif, but why shell out $20 when you can have the same effect without damaging your nails. All you need is some forgotten colours in your nail box/bag.
I USED:
BYS Yellow + Cheap Black from a chemist + O.P.I Chopstickingtoourstory.
(Do I know how to mix high luxe and low cheap, or what???)

&& BASICALLY ITS:
1. TWO COATS OF YELLOW/LIGHT BROWN
2. BLOB (strategically) SOME ORANGE OR BROWN
3. CAREFULLY OUTLINE THESE BLOBS IN BLACK.. But notice that I didn't go all the way around the blobs.

Inspirations from Honestly WTF (I really like the last picture of the gold ring and gold nail polish) and A Pair & A Spare.

If you try it out, I want to see it! TWITPIC IT @ME

TWO-TONE NAILS

HAPPPPPPPYYYY EASTER!

Nothing can beat a 5 day long weekend :D
But this is only for us Aussie kids I believe.
However, I hope wherever you are in the you are being spoilt rotten with chocolate!!!

THIS IS MY EASTER BUNNY POSE. I COULDNT AFFORD PROPER BUNNY EARS, SO THESE WILL HAVE TO DO.

I am not a big sweet tooth, but I got some eggs for the friends and got myself a Darrell Lea Dark Chocolate Nougat Egg. YUMMMERS!

In spirit of this holiday, I got my nails in the mood as well :)
This two tone look is very very easy. I have done it a plenty times before, but its the first time I have taken photos of them...

The best way is to really have pre painted nails that have dried for like a day or two, then do the second step. This is the best trick for like week old nails, that need touch ups.
So basically, you stick some sticky tape over the bottom half of your nail beds and paint over the sticky tape through to the tops of your nails.
I have some pretty cool combos like bright orange and khaki!
or.. white and steel grey...

The key is to go complete contrasts options, or stay in the same family of colours.

JOIN THE NAVY NAILPOLISH

I am digging my navy nailpolish.
I got a no name brand from the chemist's bargain bin.
The quality is very questionable. Therefore, I put a coat of black nailpolish first, then followed with two coast of the navy nail polish ;)
